Il Pezzo Mancante ("The Missing Piece") was born in 2010, created by Cosimo Terzani and Barbara Bertocci.

Inspired from their passion for quality raw materials and an innate love for their homeland, Tuscany, they create a world made of authenticity and vision in which you can rediscover an extraordinary rich artisan culture. The solid wood, the brass castings, the hand-blown crystal and the marble sourced from the finest Carrara quarries, are not just icons from the past but symbols of timeless intelligence and elegance rediscovered in modern life.

The Uniqueness
The exclusivity of natural materials, with their endless variations and the imperfections of artisanal craftsmanship, come together to create one-of-a-kind objects.
To highlight this uniqueness, each creation has its own “Missing Piece”: a small brass cylinder engraved with its name and serial number.
The Missing Piece (Pezzo Mancante in Italian) is a fragment that holds the soul of every creation, a seal that turns an object into memory, a passage between those who created it and those who will live with it.
It embodies our idea of the “Missing Piece”: a metaphor for the ongoing search we all undertake, that precious fragment we all wish to find at a special moment in our lives.

Our Story
“Since we met in 2007, we have shared a deep passion for craftsmanship, noble materials such as brass casting, solid wood, marble and, of course, design. Driven by the desire to realize our ideas, and by the strength of our love (and, why not, a bit of madness), in 2010 we founded Il Pezzo Mancante (“The Missing Piece”), combining our expertise in lighting and furniture.
Our first idea was to entrust production to external artisans, but soon we realized that, to reach the level of quality and authenticity we envisioned, we needed to create everything ourselves, especially for the wood furniture. So we built our Florence Atelier, a place where creativity and craft intertwine. We learned every step of the process, from woodworking to metal casting, blending modern precision with the sensitivity of the hand. Every detail, every piece is born here, shaped with care and passion.
We have also chosen to follow our own path in the way we share our creations with the world. Rather than relying on standard distribution channels, we collaborate with a few carefully selected partners, people who share our same values and our dedication to beauty and authenticity.
Over time, Il Pezzo Mancante has become part of our family, something to care for, to nurture, to grow with. Our love was strengthened by marriage and by the joy of our daughter, and our company evolved alongside us, becoming a living expression of who we are.
We’ve surrounded ourselves with a team of extraordinary people who come from different backgrounds but share our ideals, our passion for quality, and that touch of ordinary madness that started it all.
